May 09 Stéphane just got back from Cannes, where he covered “the steps” for the 20th consecutive year. The resulting images are striking… Unlike the paparazzi, Stéphane Kossmann is a master photographer who steers away from the triteness of a contrived picture. He photographs his subjects in black-and-white, in natural light. He captures celebrities as real people, unguarded, alone with their private thoughts, displaying evocative, unconscious movement. His images are arresting, intimate portraits, despite the surrounding crowds.
His notable work has been the subject of many exhibitions around the world and is a testament to his deeply personal view.
since Dec. 2008: OBSERVATIONS at "MISE EN SCENE" gallery in Greenwich, CONNECTICUT (U.S.A).
since Sep. 2007: exhibit at Agnes Martel gallery in Morges (Switzerland)... first time showing CROSS outside of France.
Sep. 2007: Giant exhibit in Deauville with 120 portraits displayed in the city streets.
June 2007: exhibit at Jean Patou gallery in Paris showing : CROSS.
Feb. 2007: exhibit of CROSS at the International Show of 'Premiere Vision' in Villepinte.
Dec. 2006: exhibit at Chahan gallery in Paris, showing latest work in contempart : CROSS and TIME.
Nov. 2006: official exhibitor in the Paris Month of Photography organised by La Maison Europeene de la Photographie which is the most prestigious exhibit in France for photography .
Sep. 2006: exhibit at the Casino of Deauville for the opening of the American Film Festival
May 2006: exhibit in Madrid of 24 pictures at the FNAC building in the heart of the city.
Oct. 2005: London, Macondo Gallery. Exhibit of artist’s portraits taken from his book titled 'Observations'.
Sept. 2005: Film Festival of Deauville: exhibit in the streets of Deauville with 17 artists portraits on the principal walls in town.
May 2005: Cannes film Festival. Exhibit in the streets of Cannes with a11 artists portraits taken from his work and book titled 'Observations'.
Nov. 2004: AFI Fest Los Angeles, Hollywood . Exhibit at the AFI festival, Arclight Center. 40 artists portraits .
May 2004: Cannes film Festival.
